Here at The Greenbank, its all about the community.

About providing the best possible service for the neighbourhood. Whether that is serving up a cracking Sunday Roast, a decent pint, glass of wine, great band or space for local groups.

Hope to see you soon. xx

Check out our programme of daily events. Its little wonder the Western Daily Press recently named us

Open: Sun - Thurs 11am - 12midnight (last orders 11.30pm); Fri-Sat 11am - 1am (last orders 12.30pm)

about us
Who we are, what we are and why we're here

Zazu’s Kitchen is a small Bristol-based company with currently two restaurants in Bristol. The Greenbank is our first pub venture.

Our co-founder Toby likes to tell people, about the origins of our name,: “ A Zazu is an exotic bird which is the first up and last to bed… a bit like us.”.

It’s not actually true. He made it up.

It is an African bird. - a fairly plain one, sadly - and we have no idea about its habits. But Toby’s little jest does sum us up..

Zazus Kitchen is about people, food and neighbourhood. And an all-day service..

We chose to open in Easton because the Greenbank perfectly fits our values and aspirations: an iconic building in the heart of a strong, supportive local community.

We see our job as providing a great local place to meet, socialise, eat, drink, debate, sit peacefully with a good book, send an email, catch up with friends or enjoy a great cup of coffee or glass of wine in the courtyard sun and just be…. All day long.

We began life as a small outpost in a strong, neighbourhood community, Stokes Croft, on the corner of Jamaica St, Bristol. We’ve since moved on but our roots remain the same.

Being a part of a local community is a key to who we are.

As a free house, we are able to offer a wide range of real ales, craft beers and great ciders. With such a wide variety on offer, the only characteristic they all share is quality.

The wine list is pretty good too, encompassing rich winter reds to celebratory champers - a tipple for every occasion.

And from toasting to roasting, we're really making a stir with our coffee, supplied by local caffeine artisans 'Extract Roasters' in St Werburghs.

From cakes and a coffee to quality bar snacks and our range of gastro pizzas and bowls.

All made by our staff fresh, on site.

And the Sunday lunches are a must! No, really... Please give us a ring to check on roast availability, pre-booking a table is strongly recommended.

Much of what we buy is sourced locally. Our meat is ethically sourced and has lived a happy life, and we also cater for vegetarians and vegans on all areas of our menus. All of our pizzas are stone baked using flour from Shipton Mill, in the Cotswolds. We are proud of our other wonderful suppliers too, who include, in no particular order: Chefs Deli, French Garden, Ruby and White, Powells of Olveston, Wings of St Mawes, The Bristol Sweet Mart and Chaudhrys Mega Mart

From chill out Sunday funk & jazz sessions to gigs, comedy, folk & DJ nights, we are reclaiming the Greenbank's roots as a premier live venue in east Bristol.

When the making is finished we read the story together, and this gives the grown ups an opportunity to sit and relax too.

For younger siblings we have a collection of toys designed for creative play and a scribbling area.

Drop in sessions are £6, or you can prebook 5 sessions for £25, adults and scribbling siblings are free! Every Monday 1 – 2pm.

Easton Youth Theatre provides an environment where children can express themselves creatively whilst developing life skills such as self-confidence, teamwork and trust. Children have such amazing imaginations and we are passionate about providing a space where they can really let it loose.

Sling Library
Thursday 30 March from 12 - 2pm
Bristol Sling Library exists to help parents to find the best sling or carrier for them and their child. Good quality comfortable slings can be expensive and we would like to help families to have an easy way to try before they buy. There is no sling or carrier that is the best for everyone and what suits you will depend on your size and shape and situation. We aim to have a wide range of carriers that you can come and try and then hire for a short period to see if they suit your needs.
