COMMUNITY PUB / GOOD FOOD / SPECIALIST ALES

Here at The Greenbank, its all about the community.

Whether that is serving up a cracking Sunday Roast, a decent pint, glass of wine, great band or space for local groups.

about us
WHO WE ARE, WHAT WE ARE AND WHY WE'RE HERE

Zazu’s Kitchen is a small Bristol-based company with currently two restaurants in Bristol. The Greenbank is our first pub venture.
Our co-founder Toby likes to tell people, about the origins of our name,: “ A Zazu is an exotic bird which is the first up and last to bed… a bit like us.”.

It’s not actually true. He made it up.

It is an African bird. – a fairly plain one, sadly – and we have no idea about its habits. But Toby’s little jest does sum us up..

Zazus Kitchen is about people, food and neighbourhood. And an all-day service..

We chose to open in Easton because the Greenbank perfectly fits our values and aspirations: an iconic building in the heart of a strong, supportive local community.

We see our job as providing a great local place to meet, socialise, eat, drink, debate, sit peacefully with a good book, send an email, catch up with friends or enjoy a great cup of coffee or glass of wine in the courtyard sun and just be…. All day long.

We began life as a small outpost in a strong, neighbourhood community, Stokes Croft, on the corner of Jamaica St, Bristol.
We’ve since moved on but our roots remain the same.
Being a part of a local community is a key to who we are.

FROM REAL ALES TO FINE WINE AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

As a free house, we are able to offer a wide range of real ales, craft beers and great ciders. With such a wide variety on offer, the only characteristic they all share is quality.

The wine list is pretty good too, encompassing rich winter reds to celebratory champers – a tipple for every occasion.

And from toasting to roasting, we’re really making a stir with our coffee, supplied by local caffeine artisans ‘Extract Roasters’ in St Werburghs.

food
SIMPLE, FRESH AND GOOD VALUE

From cakes and a coffee to quality bar snacks and our range of gastro pizzas and bowls.

All made by our staff fresh, on site.

And the Sunday lunches are a must! No, really… Please give us a ring to check on roast availability, pre-booking a table is strongly recommended.

Much of what we buy is sourced locally. Our meat is ethically sourced and has lived a happy life, and we also cater for vegetarians and vegans on all areas of our menus. All of our pizzas are stone baked using flour from Shipton Mill, in the Cotswolds. We are proud of our other wonderful suppliers too, who include, in no particular order: Chefs Deli, French Garden, Powells of Olveston, Wings of St Mawes, The Bristol Sweet Mart and Chaudhrys Mega Mart

The sessions are run by Tamsin Buckley-Bell and Sara Snook. She has worked for Almeida Theatre in London, ACTA Community Theatre and The Courtyard in Hereford and has run Easton Youth Theatre in 2015 – 2016. Unity Instruments Collective : Part III
Thursday 11th January at 7.30pm

Unity Instruments Collective are back for their first fundraiser of 2018.

The Folk-Feast – Part 3. Wash away your January blues with some wholesome sounds and some good vibes, all for the worthy cause of providing music and art to Refugees.

Filling the Greenbank with their wonderful sounds this time round are:

Septimus Wilkinson

Starting us off for the evening will be Septimus Wilkinson. That’s right we’re super excited to have him back after his wicked duo-set last time with the fantastic Mr Will Diamond.

Ewan McLennan

Well aren’t you an incredibly lucky lot! We are delighted to have the dreamy Scotsman that is Ewan McLennan come and serenade us all with his magical sounds. A wonderful start to 2018 for Unity Instruments for sure!

The Nomads (formerly Ali & The Nomads)

Back by popular demand these wonderful lads are gracing the Greenbank once more to top the night off with some foot stomping old-time folk tunes.

£3 suggested donation on the door and we’ll be selling raffle tickets for you chance to win some epic prizes from local businesses and artisans OR even some official Unity Instruments merchandise lovingly crafted by the super-talented De Anna Saff.

All money raised will go to help fund our on-going project. We have had our focuses mostly on working with local support groups for Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Bristol, and are now expanding our reach with a plan for a visit to Calais in the Spring.

You can see some of our progress so far here:
